Biography
Corrina Hewat is a renowned Scottish harper, singer and composer whose work bridges tradition and innovation. Rooted in the rich musical heritage of the Scottish Highlands, she spent her childhood on the Black Isle surrounded by music, art and storytelling — influences that continue to shape her introspective and expressive sound. Over a 30-year professional career, Corrina has become a leading figure in Scottish folk music.She directs the Scots folk choir Sangstream, co-founded DragonSong Productions, and contributed to Faber Music’s Folk Tunes from the Women. A co-founder of The Unusual Suspects Big Band and Bachue (with David Milligan) and acclaimed vocal trios Shine, Grace, Hewat, Polwart, and Chantan, she continues to perform with Karine Polwart in Sing to the Dark. Corrina’s music is known for its depth, warmth, and emotional honesty, and she is celebrated for her rare ability to bring out the best in others. Her most recent CD release is Song of Oak and Ivy.
