Elisabeth Affolter

Biography

Lizzie (Elisabeth Affolter) came to teach the Irish Harp in Ireland in 2010, after around 30 years touring with a breton band through Europe (incl. Ireland), and 10 years teaching in Brittany and in workshops in Europe.

As she loves arranging music for ensembles she founded the Blossom Harp Ensemble in 2012 with her students from different counties (Clare, Galway, Tipperary, Roscommon, Offaly), which was invited to festivals in Ireland and in France. Her motto is that harp has to be played with others – other harps or other instruments- on top of being played solo. She featured on a numbers of CDs when in France, and release her own CD “Harping in Ballinasloe” to showcase the Harp in different settings in traditional music. She is now a Music Educator with Music Generation (Roscommon, Westmeath and Longford), while still performing with her ensemble.
